Discover Curlewis

Curlewis lies on the Kamilaroi Highway, 17kms south of Gunnedah. At Curlewis you will find a corner store, post office, public school, police station, cemetary, fuel outlet, hotel, public toilets and park/picnic facilities. This community is agricultural based with a large wheat producing area feeding into the silo complex in the village. Other areas of interest are sheep, cattle, and farming.

The Curlewis Park boasts a War Memorial which is a gateway of two brick pillars with white stone plaques attached. The first displays names from World War 1 and the second from World War 2. Behind the gateway is a flagpole with a brass wreath at the base.
Across from the park, at 39 Goran street, is the Curlewis library which is open from 1-3 on Mondays and 3-5 on Wednesdays. Their contact number is: (02)6740 2190 for further inquiries.

You can also visit the grand old 'Commercial Hotel' with it's wide veranda and friendly faces for lunch and a coldie. Sit up at the bar for a chat or relax on the veranda and watch the world go by. It has a friendly country atmosphere and is set in a historic 1912 hotel building. There are 6 guest rooms for accommodation. Counter lunches and dinners are available from Monday through Saturday. Pub TAB, Sky channel and EFTPOS facilities available. Call (02)6744 1323 for more details.
